Participation of foreigners in Epiphany bathing

On January 19, in the city of Saratov, foreign students and students of the IIEP on the bright holiday of Epiphany participated in bathing on the Cosmonauts Embankment (in the Rotunda area). Before bathing, A.V. Panfilov said to foreign citizens who risked to swim in the icy water, that in the beginning it was necessary to do a warm-up; the ice holes had to be approached in comfortable shoes; jumping and diving were not recommended; one couldn’t stay in the hole for more than a minute; after bathing it was necessary to rub oneself with a towel and put on dry clothes. Teachers of the Russian language (supervisors) Simanina Yu.B. and Sharova I.I. explained the peculiarities of the preparation and holding of events, the history of this holiday. Some citizens from foreign countries who first bathed in an ice-hole received unforgettable impressions. The rest of the foreign citizens unanimously supported the students with dances, loud emotions and applause; they took many pictures and learned a lot of new and interesting things.
